Based on the same methods used to train detection dogs, DNA K9 provides the tools and training you need to succeed in this fun and fast-paced introduction to detection training program. Includes weekly step-by-step training plan from start to finish for a single object of your choosing that you would like your dog to be able to locate.

This class is a great starting point for students interested in scent detection or scent work sports. DNA K9 will prepare you with the knowledge and skills needed to understand and implement a beginner-friendly detection dog training program based on the same air-scent and area search training techniques used by Search-and-Rescue K9s.

The last session includes a fun competition where you and your dog conduct a search for your chosen target item in a marked search area. This final test is conducted ‘blind’, meaning your instructor will know the location of your target item, but you must rely on your dog’s training to locate it in the search area! Certificates of completion and ribbons are issued at the conclusion of the last class.
